Date: March 29th, 2016
Start Time: 6:30 AM
Location: Man O War Trail-Head
We will be having a special Club Run this Saturday March 29th. Meet at Man O War trail-head at 6:15 AM. We will start running at 6:30. This will be a 10 or 20 mile out and back to Sullivan Soccer Park (feel free to turn around sooner and make it any distance). That days run will be a charity run for Type 1 Diabetes in honor of Kycie Terry. (Please continue reading her touching story below)
Josh Terry, Kycie’s father will be running 20 miles with the club on Saturday as part of his training to run in the Boston Marathon on April 18th.
Josh is running in his daughter’s memory and to raise money for the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston, MA. Joslin is an affiliation with Harvard Medical School and is a leader in diabetes research, clinical care and education. This is a charity run and donations can be made directly on the Joslin website at https://www.crowdrise.com/joslindiabetesce…/…/kissesforkycie. 6/fundraiser/kissesforkycie.
I hope that many of you will come out and support this great cause. We are asking for a $5 donation from each runner, you may bring it that morning or follow the link above to donate online. If you are not able to donate or run 20 miles…come anyway and show your support by walking or running as far as you would like:) Come get your run in and help an Awesome Charity!
Kycie Jai Terry was 5 years old when she was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes on January 30th, 2015. That same day she was LifeFlighted from St. George to Primary Children’s Hospital in SLC. Before arriving at the children’s hospital, Kycie suffered a seizure and a severe traumatic brain injury as
a result of her extremely high blood sugars. Despite all odds, Kycie survived her injury and spent over 100 straight days in the hospital rehab center relearning how to swallow, sit up, roll over and eventually smile again. Kycie unexpectedly passed away on July 11th, 2015 at home in her fathers arms.
